Lavda
Despoina Lavda is a Greek actor and singer based in Athens and Paros, Greece. Born and raised on the island of Paros, Despoina’s early passion for music led her to begin piano and singing lessons at the age of 8.
After five years of classical vocal study (soprano voice), she expanded her musical work to include Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock, Pop, Symphonic Metal, and Musical Theatre, before shifting her professional focus to acting.
She is a graduate of the Drama School of Peiraikos Syndesmos in Piraeus, as well as a graduate of the Meisner Technique from the Meisner Academy of Athens. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in International and European Studies from the University of Piraeus and as part of her studies, she has lived in Siena, Italy, through the Erasmus+ Program. Her additional acting training includes Acting on Camera, Theatre Text Analysis, and the International Summer School of Ancient Drama.
Her theatre credits include Hooligans at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus, and her London theatre debut at the Greenwood Theatre in For Three Refrigerators and a Washing Machine. Her screen work includes the short film Shadow, the movie Promotion, and a featured extra role in the series Malice, streaming on Amazon Prime.
Her physical training extends from ballet, pole dancing, tango, ballroom and Latin dance, to Wing Chun Kung Fu (black belt), and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (basic). She is, also, a former competitive swimmer with distinctions in freestyle, backstroke, and long-distance open-water swimming.
She speaks fluently Greek, English, Italian, and Spanish; has an intermediate level of French; and is currently studying German and Russian.
